Ejigbo, Lagos–In a decisive move to address the hardship faced by motorists and residents, the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), has commenced emergency palliative repairs on failed sections of the busy Isolo–Ejigbo–Ikotun Road, bringing much-needed relief to thousands of daily road users.
The intervention is aimed at improving vehicular movement, enhancing road safety and easing the persistent traffic congestion experienced along the strategic corridor while the ongoing Federal Government road reconstruction project is being completed.
The Isolo–Ejigbo–Ikotun Road serves as a major transport link connecting several communities and commercial hubs. Its deteriorating condition had caused severe discomfort for motorists, commuters, transport operators and business owners, leading to longer travel times, vehicle damage and increased transportation costs.
Speaking on the intervention, Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT) said his administration could not remain indifferent to the daily challenges faced by residents and road users, despite the road being under the Federal Government’s jurisdiction.
According to him, the palliative repairs are a demonstration of responsive and compassionate leadership, aimed at providing immediate relief while awaiting the completion of the permanent reconstruction.
“We understand the difficulties our people face every day on this road. Although the reconstruction is being handled by the Federal Government, we believe governance is about responding to the immediate needs of the people. This intervention is to make the road safer, reduce travel time, improve the flow of traffic and support businesses that depend on this important route,” he said.
The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects that improve the quality of life of residents, stressing that infrastructure development remains a key pillar of his development agenda for Ejigbo LCDA.
Residents, commercial drivers and traders welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will reduce the burden of navigating the damaged sections of the road and restore confidence among road users.
The emergency repairs further reflect the Taiwo administration’s proactive approach to governance and its determination to ensure that residents continue to enjoy improved access, safer roads and a more conducive environment for economic activities.
As work progresses, motorists and commuters are expected to experience smoother traffic flow and safer passage along one of the busiest road networks linking Isolo, Ejigbo and Ikotun, pending the completion of the Federal Government’s permanent road reconstruction project.
