The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched a new toll-free short-code hotline, 3367, to improve emergency response, enhance traffic management and promote greater accountability across Lagos State.
The initiative marks a major upgrade from the agency’s previous long-service communication platform to a simpler, faster and more user-friendly system.
The 3367 hotline is available at no cost to subscribers on MTN, Glo and Etisalat (T2) networks, allowing residents to report traffic-related emergencies without incurring call charges.
Through the new platform, members of the public can promptly alert LASTMA to road traffic crashes, broken-down vehicles, stranded tankers, disabled articulated trucks, traffic obstructions and other incidents requiring urgent attention.
The hotline also provides a direct channel for residents to report the conduct, professionalism and operational activities of LASTMA personnel, further strengthening transparency and accountability within the agency.
To ensure wider accessibility, callers can communicate with hotline operators in English, Yoruba or Pidgin English, a multilingual approach aimed at removing communication barriers and encouraging greater public participation in traffic management.
Speaking on the development, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the launch of the 3367 hotline as a significant milestone in the agency’s commitment to protecting lives, improving vehicular movement and delivering a more responsive, technology-driven traffic management system.
According to him, the new hotline reflects LASTMA’s determination to leverage digital innovation in tackling the growing transportation challenges associated with Lagos’ rapid urban expansion while strengthening collaboration with road users.
“The inauguration of the 3367 Toll-Free Short-Code Hotline represents another monumental stride towards institutionalizing a safer, more efficient and highly responsive transportation ecosystem across Lagos State.
It provides residents with a direct, convenient and cost-free channel through which incidents requiring immediate intervention can be promptly reported,” Bakare-Oki said.
He noted that the increasing complexity of traffic management in one of Africa’s largest megacities requires modern technological solutions capable of delivering swift responses to emergencies and road incidents.
Bakare-Oki assured residents that all reports received through the hotline would be treated with professionalism, confidentiality and urgency, with information immediately relayed to the appropriate operational units for prompt action.
He urged Lagos residents to embrace the 3367 hotline as an important tool for improving road safety, promoting accountability and supporting the state’s vision of a safer, more efficient and sustainable transportation system.
