LAGOS – The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State, Chief Leo Okafor (Oba Ojoto), has expressed profound grief over the tragic building collapse in the Alakija area of Lagos State, extending heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and everyone affected by the disaster.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation in Lagos, Chief Okafor described the incident as a painful tragedy that has thrown many families into mourning and left several others injured and traumatised.
He said the unfortunate collapse serves as a sobering reminder of the need to prioritize safety and strengthen measures aimed at preventing avoidable disasters across the state.
The Ohanaeze Lagos President prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of those who died in the incident and wished those receiving medical treatment a speedy and full recovery.
He also urged the bereaved families to remain strong in the face of the irreparable loss, praying that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the painful moment.
Chief Okafor went further to commend the swift response of emergency responders and relevant government agencies involved in the rescue operations, acknowledging their commitment and sacrifices in searching for survivors and providing relief to victims.
He prayed for God’s protection, wisdom and strength for all personnel working tirelessly at the disaster site, while expressing hope that every possible effort would continue to be made to save lives and provide support to affected families.
He reaffirm Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State’s solidarity with the victims and the people of Lagos during this difficult period, while offering prayers for comfort, healing and lasting peace for all those impacted by the tragedy.
