Lagos, Nigeria – Nigerian hairstylist Ikechukwu Damilola is gearing up for an ambitious attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Hairdressing Marathon, aiming to style hair continuously for 120 hours.

The historic challenge is scheduled to take place from June 10 to June 15, 2026, at Unique Unity Lounge, Iyana-Era, Ijanikin, Lagos, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The five-day endurance test is expected to showcase Damilola’s exceptional skill, creativity, resilience, and dedication to the hairstyling profession.

Organizers describe the event as more than a record attempt, noting that it is also a celebration of entrepreneurship, talent development, and the growing global recognition of Nigeria’s creative industry.

The initiative has received strong support from the Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area, Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, who has thrown his weight behind the hairstylist’s quest for global recognition.

According to the council chairman, encouraging young professionals and supporting creative talents remain key priorities of his administration.

He called on residents, stakeholders, and well-wishers to rally behind Damilola and contribute to the success of the record-breaking attempt.

Investigator news reports that if successful, Damilola will surpass the current Guinness World Record of 100 hours, set in 2023 by Nigerian hairstylist Helen Williams, establishing a new global benchmark in the hairdressing industry.

The attempt is expected to attract hairstylists, beauty enthusiasts, community leaders, and supporters from across Lagos and beyond, who will gather to witness the remarkable feat firsthand.

Damilola’s challenge joins a growing list of record-breaking achievements by Nigerians, reflecting the nation’s determination to excel on the global stage.

To earn official recognition, the attempt must comply with Guinness World Records guidelines, including continuous activity requirements, independent witness verification, and regulated rest periods.

As anticipation builds, supporters are hopeful that the Lagos-based hairstylist will not only make history but also inspire a new generation of creative professionals to pursue excellence and dream beyond limits.
