The Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Zone C (South East), Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku, has felicitated with Nigerian workers as the country marks the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, praising their resilience and contributions to national development.
In a goodwill message, Adiuku described workers as the backbone of society, noting that their dedication and sacrifices continue to sustain the economy and drive progress despite prevailing challenges.
He paid special tribute to journalists and media professionals across the South East and Nigeria at large, commending their steadfast commitment to truth, accountability, and public enlightenment.
According to him, journalists have remained pillars of democracy through their consistent role in promoting transparency, defending public interest, and giving voice to the people.
Adiuku noted that despite economic hardship, safety concerns, and the changing demands of the media profession, practitioners have continued to uphold the ethics and values of journalism.
He urged media professionals to remain resolute in professionalism, integrity, and courage, stressing the need to continue holding leaders accountable while contributing to peace, unity, and development.
The NUJ leader also called on governments and employers to prioritize the welfare, safety, and professional growth of workers, especially journalists whose responsibilities in shaping public discourse are critical.
He expressed optimism that with collective commitment, Nigeria would build a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous society.
Adiuku wished all Nigerian workers a happy and rewarding Workers’ Day celebration.
