Hawker Killed In Okokomaiko As LASTMA Saves Seven In Ogudu Collision.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has confirmed its prompt response to two separate road accidents in Lagos, including a fatal crash at Okokomaiko and another collision at Ogudu inward Toll Gate where seven passengers were rescued with varying degrees of injuries.

The tragic incident at Okokomaiko involved a Lexus Jeep with registration number SMK 674 HY, which struck and killed an adult male roadside hawker.

LASTMA officials swiftly responded to the distress call, secured the accident scene, and evacuated the remains of the deceased from the carriageway to prevent further traffic disruption.

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force from Ketu Division subsequently conveyed the body to the Badagry Mortuary for further necessary procedures.

In a separate development, LASTMA personnel also intervened promptly in a collision at Ogudu inward Toll Gate involving a Mazda commercial bus (MUS 231 YA) and a Lexus Jeep (FKJ 23 HL).

The incident resulted in injuries to seven passengers, all of whom were rescued at the scene.

Emergency response efforts were strengthened by security operatives from the Ogudu Police Division, while officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service evacuated the injured victims to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.

All vehicles involved in the accidents have been handed over to the police for further investigation into the underlying causes of both incidents.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, reiterated the Authority’s call for heightened road safety consciousness among motorists.

He urged drivers to strictly comply with traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds, and exercise increased vigilance, particularly during late-night hours when visibility and alertness are often compromised.
