Political tension has heightened within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Amuwo‑Odofin Local Government Area following the expulsion of the member representing Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives (Nigeria), Hon. George Olawande Adegeye.

The decision was reached during an Emergency General Meeting of Ward B members held in Festac Town on April 8, 2026, where party leaders reviewed the lawmaker’s alleged involvement in activities considered detrimental to the party’s unity and structure.

Investigator news reports that in a letter addressed to the ADC Chairman, Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Hon. Clifford Agugoesi, Ward B members stated that Adegeye had not formally joined the party and was allegedly engaging in activities capable of destabilising the party at both ward and local government levels.

The ward leadership further alleged that the federal lawmaker failed to recognise duly constituted party leadership, thereby encouraging insubordination and indiscipline within the party.

Members also claimed that Adegeye did not meet the requirements of the 2026 Electoral Act regarding eligibility for voting and contesting party positions, noting that he reportedly filled his membership form on March 2, 2026, and submitted it by proxy on March 12, 2026.

The statement also accused Adegeye of organising a party event on April 4, 2026, without involving legitimate ward and LGA leadership.

According to the ward members, the event reportedly created a crisis of confidence, with allegations that many attendees were sympathisers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), raising concerns about his political loyalty.

Additionally, Ward B leaders alleged that the lawmaker interfered with the Lagos State Harmonisation Committee by allegedly determining names that appeared on a harmonised list, a move they said prompted recognised ADC representatives to distance themselves from the list.

The ward members further accused Adegeye of attempting to replace properly constituted party leadership at both ward and LGA levels, describing the actions as violations of Article 22 of the ADC Constitution.

Following deliberations, members conducted a voice vote during the emergency meeting, unanimously validating the expulsion of the lawmaker from the party.

Investigator news gathered that the resolution was signed by Ward Chairman Hon. Ola Olajide, Ward Secretary Hon. Faith Kelechi Oluoma, Women Leader Hon. Wisdom Ajogu.

Others are Hon. Chibuzor N. Chibuzor, Hon. John Otu, Hon. Clara Ogbedi, Hon. Juliana Abogo, Hon. Patience Abanum, Hon. Mezue Uche, Hon. Adaeze Jombo and Hon. Felix Bello.

Copies of the expulsion notice were also forwarded to the State Organising Secretary, State Chairman, National Organising Secretary, and National Chairman of the party.

The development is expected to further deepen political realignments within the ADC in Amuwo-Odofin as preparations for future political activities intensify.
