Fani-Kayode attacks Northern governors: APC Presidential Primaries

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode on Tuesday criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) Northern Governors for ‘threatening the authority of the Chairman, Adamu Abdullahi’ as the governing party held its presidential primaries today (Tuesday).

The APC Northern Governors rejected Senate President Ahmed Lawan as the ruling party’s consensus presidential candidate on Monday night.

They also disavowed Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for rejecting their view that power should be distributed to the south.

In response, Fani-Kayode, an ally of Governor Bello and an APC leader in Abuja, said the Northern governors should have recognised the party’s sovereignty.

“It is NOT for the Northern Governors to ZONE or DETERMINE our party’s Presidential candidate.” It is up to the President, the National Chairman, the NWC, and the delegates to make the decision. A challenge to the Chairman’s authority and the party’s dominance is unacceptable,” Fani-Kayode tweeted on his verified Twitter profile.

According to this publication, accreditation of delegates for the APC’s Special Convention and presidential primary is already underway at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.
