Before the 2023 presidential election, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has vowed to assist the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in selecting a qualified running mate.
At a gathering to honour Tinubu’s 60th birthday, Gbajabiamila responded to comments Tinubu had made.
Gbajabiamila remarked, “You stated in your address that many years ago you consulted with a younger brother on the matter of WAEC and that consultation bore fruits.
I bid you farewell with my own words. Once more, you should speak with your younger brother. I’ll assign you a running mate who you’ll like working with.
For the Independent National Electoral Commission’s deadline, Tinubu had previously submitted Ibrahim Kabir Masari as a running mate.
He explained, “so they can use the state resources, not just to play politics, but to develop the state and its youth as the foundation of the nation’s human capital.”
