In a grand celebration, the Youth wing of the Urhobo Progressive Union, Lagos State Chapter, has honored Otunba Sunny Akpoyibo for his remarkable contributions to youth development and the advancement of the Union.
The Youth wing of Urhobo Progressive Union, Lagos State Chapter, led by Comrade Williams Ihete, appointed Otunba Sunny Akpoyibo as their patron.
This appointment is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of youth development and his immense contributions to the development of the Union in Lagos State and Delta state.
The event, which was held at the residence of Otunba Sunny Akpoyibo, was filled with funfair amidst jubilation as youths,patrons, patroness, branch executives and members, friends of the celebrant, top-ranking police officers, traditional Chiefs, Eze Ndigbo of Ijegun, and Alimosho trooped in their large numbers to celebrate this uncommon achiever.
Investigator news reports that this appointment and celebration underscore Otunba Sunny Akpoyibo’s commitment to the Urhobo community and his enduring legacy in promoting youth development and community advancement.
“Otunba Sunny Akpoyibo is a man that has been tested and can be trusted with the affairs of Urhobo Youths, Lagos chapter.
” Today we are honouring him because of his outstanding contributions and records to not only the youths of Urhobo Progressive Union but also to non indigenes like the yoruba and Igbos, little wonder he was giving the tilte “Otunba and Nwanne Dina ba” respectively.
” He is a social man as we can all see here today,a man of integrity and peace ”
He encouraged the youths to be progressive minded,be in unity so as to achieve their goal as Urhobo indigenes.
Speaking with investigator news, the President UPU Apapa branch, Chief Joseph Emamru noted that the essence of the event was to celebrate an illustrious son who has been so useful to the youth body.
Chief Emamru described Chief Akpoyibo as a man of integrity,lover of the youths and one who is detribalized, while applauding the leadership of the President General, Barrister Essenga for his leadership style in ensuring that UPU is taking to the next level.
He went further to advise the leaders in power to see themselves as servants of the people but not as rulers, even as he charged all stakeholders to sustain the existing peace in Urhobo that and environs.
” We the Urhobo people are unique and special and we are part of the Niger delta contributing a lot to the progress of Nigeria, therefore we are pleading with the leadership of this country so as to make sure that the Urhobos are appointed into various capacities in government ”
” We have the resources and we can be greater than Saudi Arabia,if the right thing is put in place and Nigeria as a country would be greater than before ”
“I appeal to our leaders to ensure that insecurity and banditry remains their aim and objectives “he said.
Lending his voice, Ambassador Dr Leonard Obie opined that the event calls for unity,celebration, remember their culture and honor those who have done excellently well .
The UN ambassador of peace went further to describe Chief Sunny as a grassroot personality,God fearing,Kind,a messagerof people,a philanthropist and loved by all.
Chief Abbi Alexander Onakpo,Vice Chairman UPU Ojo sub branch said that Otunba Sunny has always been there for youths as he has empowered so many individuals through Job creation and financial aid.
Chief Abbi called on the people of Urhobo to always remain in unity, peace and oneness so that more developmental infrastructure would be seen in the Urhobo community and it’s environs
” Urhobo means onenes and we remain united because there is strength in our unity. Let us continue to assist each other so that we can go home and established and ensure that our youths are gainfully employed,by so doing they would take off their mind from social vices “he submitted.
Chief Sunny Akpoyibo in a happy mood and high spirit expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the elevation and opined that power belongs to God, saying that only God can give power and position of authority.
He thanked all members of UPU Youth wing and the entire executives for the honor and the show of love.
Continuing, Akpoyibo went further to charge all Urhobo youths to remain united and always work collectively to community growth.
“If all youths of Urhobo come together in such manner, the ethnic group which is the fifth largest in Nigeria cannot be penetrated by any intruder and if same energy is directed to the issue of herdsmen the senseless killings would become a thing of the past,” he averred.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of award of recognition and decoration on Chief Sunny Akpoyibo as patron of Urhobo Progressive Union,Youth Wing.
