United States has established a conflict monitor to monitor Russia’s war in Ukraine
The US has established a new conflict monitoring body that will be used to build legal cases against Russia for crimes committed during its conflict with Ukraine.
“The Conflict Observatory will ensure that crimes committed by Russian forces are documented and perpetrators are held accountable,” said State Department spokesman Ned Price in a statement announcing the body’s formation on Tuesday.
He said the program would gather, analyze, and make open-source information and evidence of atrocities, human rights violations, and damage to civilian infrastructure, including Ukraine’s cultural heritage, available to the public.
ConflictObservatory.org will host the reports.
The observatory, according to the spokesperson, is a collaboration between scientists and the private sector.
He stated that the goal is to assist in future prosecutions in Ukrainian domestic courts, third-party country courts, US courts, and other tribunals.

It will also provide evidence that Russian disinformation campaigns are false.
According to the State Department, the program is a collaboration with Esri, Yale University’s Humanitarian Research Lab, the Smithsonian Cultural Rescue Initiative, and PlanetScape Ai, with future funding coming from the European Democratic Resilience Initiative.
