As the Government of Anambra State announced that President Bola Tinubu will be visiting the state on Thursday, May 8, 2025, there are reports of tension in the state between the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA)has debunked reports of tension in Anambra State ahead of Tinubu’s visit.
Investigator news reports that there have been reports making the rounds alleging “tension and clash of interests” between the ruling APGA and APC in the state following the announcement of the President’s visit.
In a statement, the National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, described the reports as “baseless and part of a calculated attempt to create unnecessary panic.”
Obigwe debunked the rumours, saying it is the handiwork of a “pay as you go writer,” who is only doing his best to “justify the millions of naira” he collected from the camp of the APC.
However, Governor Soludo has assured the people of Onitsha South Local Council of the state that the ruling APGA, under his watch, will continue to govern the state.
Soludo stated this at St. Jude Catholic Church, Fegge, in Onitsha while speaking at the Thanksgiving Service of the National Chairman of the party, Sly Ezeokenwa, who is celebrating his Supreme Court victory that affirmed him as the authentic National Chairman of APGA.
Recall that the Supreme Court, on November 27, 2024, affirmed Sly Ezeokenwa as the authentic National Chairman of APGA, putting to an end the party’s leadership dispute between Ezeokenwa and his challenger, Edozie Njoku.
Soludo thanked the party supporters for standing strong with its national chairman during the court battle.
He said that the victory was clear evidence that APGA was progressively formed in 2002 to provide good governance to the people of Anambra State and Nigeria at large.
On the visit of the President to Anambra state, the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, stated that the President shall, during the historic visit, commission some projects of the Chukwuma Soludo administration, showcasing the state’s progress and development under his leadership.
Mefor added: “In preparation for this high-powered visit, the government anticipates slight adjustments to traffic flow and commuter schedules.” He, therefore, urges Ndi Anambra to cooperate with security agencies and other relevant authorities in the build-up to this visit.
He further stated that the state was excited to welcome the President and assured him of a warm and hospitable reception.
Mefor called for the people’s understanding, cooperation, and support in ensuring a hitch-free and memorable visit by the President.
