Somolu LG Chairman Emeritus ‘Dullar’ Seek Compassion For Less Privileged On World Humanitarian Day.

The immediate past Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, fondly called Dullar, is urging Nigerians to show more empathy and compassion to the less privileged as the world observes World Humanitarian Day with the theme Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities.
In a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary,Owolabi ‘Ajimomuya’ Oseni, Dullar noted that humanitarian service is not the responsibility of government alone but a duty every citizen must embrace.
Dullar stressed that giving, no matter how little, has the power to transform lives and strengthen communities. According to him, a simple gift of food, financial assistance, or words of encouragement can bring hope to those in need.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of helping others as a way of fostering peace, unity, and social stability in the country.
As Director of Humanitarian Affairs during the APC 2023 Tinubu/Shetima Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat Campaign Council, Dullar reached out to several groups and vulnerable citizens.
His role showed that politics, when guided by empathy and compassion, can serve as a genuine tool for service and positive human development across communities.
In Somolu, his achievements remain remarkable. He pioneered the monthly free food programme for the elderly in 2017, becoming the first council chairman to do so.
This noble initiative provided relief to senior citizens and restored their dignity by ensuring they were not forgotten in society.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Dullar further demonstrated his compassion by distributing more than 50,000 food packs and over N160 million in cash palliatives to petty traders under his free business support programme.
This thoughtful intervention provided timely relief at a moment of economic hardship and uncertainty.
For his humanitarian strides, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ received several awards and recognitions.
He expressed confidence in the Hon. Lateef Ashimi-led administration of Somolu Local Government to sustain people-focused initiatives, while urging Nigerians: “Let someone help somebody today and the world will be a better and safer place.”
