The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has expressed profound sadness over the tragic death of Miss Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a 29-year-old lawyer-turned-journalist with Arise News Channel.
She was brutally killed during an armed robbery attack at her Abuja residence on September 29, 2025.
In a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime,Governor Soludo described Maduagwu as a shining star and a distinguished daughter of Anambra State, who had made a name for herself in the journalism profession.
He lamented the circumstances of her death, calling it a personal tragedy to her family and a loss to the state and nation.
The Governor went further to extend his condolences to Sommie’s family,extended family members, friends, colleagues at ARISE News Channel, and all who knew and loved her.
He also called on the Nigeria Police Force to conduct a thorough, swift, and transparent investigation into this heinous crime and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice expeditiously.
