Soludo Leads Faithful In Palm Sunday Observance, Calls For Humility And Service

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo,on Sunday 29,March 2026 joined Christian faithful in a solemn Palm Sunday procession at the Light House Chaplaincy, Government House, Awka, marking the beginning of the Holy Week.

The Palm Sunday Mass, officiated by the Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Raphael Onyekwelu, was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, alongside top government officials and members of the Government House community.

The ceremony commenced with the traditional blessing of palm fronds, symbolizing the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

Speaking during the service, Governor Soludo highlighted the spiritual importance of Palm Sunday, describing it as a meaningful start to Passion Week and a time for reflection on the values of humility and service.

The Governor, who recently commenced his second term in office, stressed that the virtues demonstrated by Jesus Christ remain essential for leadership and the continued development of Anambra State.

“Palm Sunday reminds us that leadership is a call to selfless service and sacrifice. As we enter this Holy Week, we remain committed to building a livable and prosperous homeland under the guidance of the Almighty,” he stated.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Onyekwelu encouraged the faithful to emulate Christ’s humility, urging both leaders and citizens to uphold integrity, unity, and peaceful coexistence.

Investigator news reports that Governor Soludo later joined other congregants in a symbolic procession, waving palm fronds in commemoration of the biblical event and ushering in the Holy Week with prayers and reflection.
