As Muslims around the world celebrate the Eid-el Kabir festival, the Kano State Government has approved a ten-day holiday for the state’s schools.
The holiday would run from Thursday, July 7 to Sunday, July 17, according to a statement from Aliyu Yusuf, the Kano State Ministry of Education’s spokesperson.
However, the statement says that students who are taking part in the NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS examinations as well as exchange students from other states at the Government Secondary Schools in Gwarzo and Shekara must continue their examination and programme, respectively, throughout the time period.
The ministry instructed all principals to guarantee that boarding students returned to class on July 17. On July 18, when academic activities will resume, day students will also.
The ministry also stated that students who default on their obligations will face appropriate disciplinary action.
The Federal Government has not yet declared a holiday for the Sallah celebration as of the time of filing this report.
