Road Infrastructure:Anambra State Stands Still As Gov. Soludo Honours His Predecessor,Sir Wille Obiano.

In recognition of the landmark projects initiated by former Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Monday, April 7, 2025, honoured his predecessor by naming the 10.5km road leading to the Chinua Achebe International Passenger and Cargo Airport as the “Willie Obiano Boulevard.”
During the ceremony, Governor Soludo commended Chief Sir Willie Obiano for his contributions to the state, stating, “He did his very best, completing 90% of the work at the ICC Awka and the Chinua Achebe International Airport.”
He went further to emphasize his commitment to upholding the tradition of honoring past leaders, starting with Ex-Governor Willie Obiano, Peter Obi, Dr. Nwabueze Ngige, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, and Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife.
The traditional rulers of Awkuzu, Umueri, and Aguleri communities—HRM Prof. Charles Anikweze, HRM Igwe Ben Emeka, HRM Igwe Dr. Mike Idigo, and the Igwe Ukwalla Community, who is also the Chairman of the Anambra North Traditional Rulers Council—respectfully commended Governor Soludo for his transformational impact on the Anambra North communities.
Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, the Commissioner for Water Resources, expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for honoring his predecessor, remarking on the Governor’s governing philosophy of “one state, one people, and one agenda.”
He recalled that after taking the oath of office in Anambra Central, the Governor immediately began working, dedicating over eight hours of service on his first day and promptly continuing his work the next day in Okpoko (Anambra North).
In his remarks, Sir. Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, Chairman of the Anambra East Local Government Area, thanked Governor Soludo for the construction of five new general hospitals in the Anambra North zone.
Meanwhile, the member representing Anambra East in the State House of Assembly expressed appreciation for the ongoing Aguleri Otu Road project.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the newly minted “Willie Obiano Boulevard” by Governor Soludo, the traditional rulers, members of the State House of Assembly, and the Anambra State Executive Council, which was met with great admiration by the people.
