A 16-year-old girl is said to have been raped in a hotel by 19-year-old Auwal Abdullahi, according to men from the Adamawa State Police Command.
He is alleged to have left the victim in the hotel room so that several of his friends could each rape her in turn.
They reportedly left their victim at the hotel in the Jimeta neighborhood’s Nasarawo Borehole area on Tuesday.
However, Nasarawo Borehole-born tricycle driver Auwal has vehemently refuted the accusation, claiming that the woman was his girlfriend.
The Auwal, who had sex with the hotel guest, allegedly left her in the care of some of his friends, who broke into the room while he was away and gang-raped the woman.
During questioning, Auwal, who was subsequently detained by the police, said he was not involved in the rape.
He insisted that it was mutually agreed upon that they have an affair.
He claimed that they had been dating for more than six months.
He said that they had a good relationship and that he thought about marrying her.
After spending time with her on the day of the incident, he recalled, “I asked her to go home, but she refused, saying she would rather go somewhere else.
She informed me that she wouldn’t leave until 11 a.m., so I left her in the hotel the following morning. She was gang raped by some hoodlums after they chased her out of the hotel, I was told.
The state commissioner of police, Afolabi Babatola, expressed concern about the incident and promised to ensure the suspect’s prosecution, according to the state police public relations officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.
