Nigeria’s problems are due to poor leadership, according to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate for president.
This was said by him during a meeting he had with the NLC’s leaders on Tuesday in Abuja.
Former governor of Anambra State Obi claimed that rather than Nigeria becoming a productive country, leaders are transforming it into something else.
Nigeria is not a producer nation. There is nothing we produce. Bad leadership is the result of everything we are going through right now. The focus on sharing is made by the leadership. The sharing formula needs to give way to the production formula, he said.
He called for increased cooperation between the NLC, the Labour Party, and pertinent stakeholders while noting that young people in their productive years are not productive.
“Nobody can be president unless they sit down with the labour and every organisation to decide how Nigeria will be run in the future. We cannot continue to have an arrangement in which the leaders are here and the workers are there. They have to talk and be seated at the same table,” he added.
Following his withdrawal from the PDP’s presidential primary elections in May, Obi joined the Labour party.
Since then, he has become one of the front-runners for the presidency in 2023, particularly among young people.
