Former Senator Dino Melaye has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), blaming the party’s failure to rescue Nigeria from “the prevailing political cankerworms”.
In his July 30 resignation letter to the PDP Chairman of Ward 1 in Aiyetoro Gbede, Kogi State, Melaye announced his immediate exit from the party and its activities.
Melaye, the 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate, said his decisiont followed careful reflection on the party’s state, making it impossible to continue supporting its agenda “in good conscience”.

Investigator news reports that he’s a close associate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who also left the PDP earlier this month. Both Melaye and Abubakar are expected to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) next.
