The Deputy Inspector General of Police, South-South geopolitical zone, DIG Daniel Sokari Pedro has said that to fight crime and criminality, community partnership is key, noting that partnership with the community is key in Policing because, in recent times, Policing has become everybody’s business.

He stated this when he paid a working visit to the Delta State Police Command on Wednesday 22nd of May,2024 where he met with the officers in a bid to boosting the morale of the officers and enhancing Police community relations.
and also assuring residents in the State of the Force commitment to ensuring a safer Delta state.

The DIG who is the most senior Police officer in the South-South region (supervising DIG South-South) and also the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Department of Information and Communication Technology of the Nigeria Police Force,who was accompanied by the AIG Zone 5, AIG Arungwa Nwazue Udo assured the residents in the state of the force commitment to ensuring a safer Delta State.

DIG Sokari, before the commencement of his tour, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F. Oborevwori at the Government House, Asaba.

The DIG in his remark noted that the State Government has been of immense help to the Police force in the State, while soliciting for more support from the State Government and the good people of Delta State.

The Governor,Rt.Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, in his response appreciated the leadership of the Police force particularly the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD for finding some officers in the state deserving of an award.

He noted that the award is a sign that the Police in the state are working and ensuring that the state is safe and secured, while promising to buy more vehicles for the Police that will be commissioned by the Inspector General of Police.

Thereafter, the DIG proceeded to During the interaction with the Stakeholders, the DIG noted that partnership with the community is key in policing, while calling on the officers and men of the command to desist from extortion,abuse of human rights, and most importantly policing with a human face.

Sokari admonished them to brace up and meet up with the security challenges in the state, while being mindful of the fundamental human rights of the citizenry, while emphasizing the importance of knowing when to use their firearms in accordance with the extant rules of the force as stipulated in Force Order 237 and Force Order 88.

The DIG commended the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi for his effort in fighting crime, noting that the achievements within the very short time has worked in the State are laudable.
