The governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti, has ordered that all accounts held by the state government and its agencies that are located in all banks and financial institutions throughout the federation be frozen.
The Governor issued a warning to all banks and other financial institutions in the nation not to honour any checks, documents, instruments, or directives of any kind unless they were expressly approved by him in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma.
The declaration also ordered that all boards of state government organisations and parastatals be dissolved and that the chief executive officers of those bodies hand over control to those who will succeed them.
“His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, Governor of Abia State, has ordered the immediate freezing of all accounts held by the Abia State Government and its agencies in each bank and financial institution located in the State and the Federation.
“With this notice, all banks and other financial institutions in the nation are enjoined to stop immediately honouring any checks, documents, instruments, or orders of any kind that do not expressly come from him or bear his express approval.
In a statement, it was stated that “Governor Otti has similarly ordered the immediate dissolution of all boards of the Abia State Government agencies and parastatals and further ordered the chief executives of these organisations to hand over to those next in line to them.”
