The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has described the newly commissioned Openi–Mende–Ojota Link Bridge as a strategic infrastructure that will significantly improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth across Lagos State.
Comrade AKOD made this known on Wednesday while attending the commissioning ceremony of the bridge, which he noted represents another milestone in the Lagos State Government’s commitment to sustainable urban development and improved transportation.
Investigator news reports that the project was commissioned by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who was represented by the Senate President, H.E. Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, at the well-attended ceremony that drew governors, political leaders, stakeholders, and residents from across the state.
Speaking after the commissioning, Comrade AKOD commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for what he described as a legacy project that will ease traffic congestion, enhance mobility, and improve socio-economic activities across the affected communities and beyond.
According to him, the completion of the Openi–Mende–Ojota Link Bridge further strengthens Lagos’ position as a leading megacity and reinforces its reputation as the “City of Aquatic Splendour.”
AKOD also urged residents to take ownership of the project by ensuring responsible use and proper maintenance of the infrastructure.
He emphasized that public cooperation is essential to preserving government investments and ensuring long-term benefits for all.
The Council boss went further to call on residents to support government development initiatives through prompt payment of taxes, noting that tax compliance remains critical to sustaining infrastructure development and delivering more people-oriented projects.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the quality of life for residents and contribute to the overall development of Lagos State.
