In a bid to cushion the effect of the economic hardship facing its citizenry in the country, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro local council development area,Hon Hammed ldowu Tijani has decided to support over six hundred vulnerable households and individuals that are badly affected with cash award of Fifty thousand naira(N50,000).
The event which took place on Monday,12th August,2024 at the council multipurpose hall witnessed Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards being distributed to the beneficiaries so as to enable them withdraw the sum of Fifty thousand naira (N50,000)each from designated banks of their choice.
Hon Tijani in his address stated that the initiative is a special financial inclusion facilities provided by his administration to boost the finances of the people at the grassroot level, stating that his government is doing everything at its disposal to compliment the initiative of both the federal and lagos state government on distribution of food palliatives.
“What we are all here to witness is the fulfillment of our social responsibility as a proactive,responsive and responsible government to improve the standard of living of our people”
It is obvious that the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government had caused the rising cost of food items and essential commodities in our market, thereby making cost of living to become very expensive in the country”
“The beneficiaries of this program are those who have written to the council, seeking financial assistance, other beneficiaries cut across vulnerable members of several ethnic groups, religious bodies, trade association, market men and women,various political parties to take care of various challenges they were being faced “,he submitted.
The LGA helmsman opined that his administration shall not relent in his effort at ensuring both human and infrastructural development in the council while highlighting some of his developmental projects which include rehabilitation of roads and public schools in various communities across the seven wards in Ojokoro LCDA, several empowerment and skill acquisition program that has impacted so many.
He appealed to the good people of Ojokoro LCDA to continually exercise patience and give the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu more time in his administration’s bid to rebuild Nigeria and revamp the battered economy.
He said,”The president is doing everything possible to find lasting solutions to the problems of insecurity, banditry, kidnapping and economic hardship, inherited by his administration, which have bedeviled the country and negatively”
” It will be recalled that the president recently signed into law,the payment of seventh thousand naira (7000)as minimum salary,as he has decided to succor to the masses.”he submitted.
Therefore,he calls the protesters to channel their grievances to government through dialogue and urge them to join hands in repositioning the country for the betterment of it citizens.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with lnvestigator news,Mrs Funmi Adelaide thank the LG Chairman for such initiative, noting that the said cash award would be used to enhance her businesses.
Another beneficiary,,Mrs Ruth urge the chairman not to relent in his quest to.continually impact and touch lives, while thanking the chairman for coming to the rescue of the vulnerable homes .
