……….As Lagos APC Swears In New Elected Officers

The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi has called on newly sworn-in party executives to remain united and work together to consolidate the party’s achievements as preparations begin for the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held on Friday 6,March 2026 at the State party secretariat,Acme,Ikeja,Hon Ojelabi described their election as a critical step toward strengthening the party’s organisational framework,especially as it prepares for the emergence of candidates who will fly the party’s flag.
According to him, many people are watching the party and asking whether it will be able to change the narrative and further consolidate on the achievements it has recorded since 1999.
Ojelabi said the party must also reflect on its performance during the 2023 presidential election and see it as a collective task that must occupy the minds of all members.
He added that the effort to strengthen the party is also a way of showing appreciation to the leader who played a major role in shaping the political careers of many members and contributed greatly to the development of democracy in Nigeria.
“A man who made all of us politically,the man that has contributed in no small way in deepening our democracy in Nigeria.
“The man that did so much by increasing the number of our local government from 20 to 57,the man who increased the number of our councillors from 245 to 376,he is the man that has created that particular opportunity that now enables us to witness monumental development in all nook and crannies of the state”
“What are we going to do to reciprocate that particular gesture? the only thing we can do to show appreciation is for all of us to go all out and make sure that we deliver our votes into a totality come January 16 2027. we can only achieve this with unity of purpose today irrespective of groups that you belong today”
According to Ojelabi, the Executives emerged through a democratic process and must work together to strengthen the party’s presence in their respective wards and local government areas.
He noted that the new executives took office at a crucial period for the party, emphasising that their leadership would be vital in consolidating the party’s achievements in the state.
He also urged them to work closely with local government party leadership and intensify mobilisation at the grassroots.
“As you are leaving here, get acquainted with the leadership of your local government,respect that particular local government,know the terrain of your local government, meet your council chairman, let your council chairman know that you have been sworn in to identify the black spots area so that you will be able to highlight them when it comes to state executive council meeting.”
He warned them not to allow anyone to intimidate them into choosing sides, stressing that they should be seen as free individuals who represent the party at all times, while advising them to avoid attending caucus meetings that do not reflect the party’s collective interest, insisting that the responsibility of strengthening the party lies in their unity.
The pastor turned politician also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to inclusive participation and grassroots development, emphasising that effective leadership at the ward and local government levels remains vital to sustaining the APC’s political strength in the state.
Ojelabi further assured that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, would provide an enabling environment to boost the party’s performance in the forthcoming elections.
Investigator news reports that the State legal adviser was also directed to provide copies of the party’s constitution to the executives so they can become familiar with it and speak authoritatively on party matters.
Speaking with newsmen after the inauguration,Hon Ojelabi stated that the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to at least double the votes secured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election during the 2027 general elections.
He noted that Nigerians would vote for Tinubu’s administration in 2027 following his monumental development and infrastructure put in place.
Lending his voice,the Publicity Secretary,Hon Seye Oladejo affirmed that the preparation for next year election is in top gear.
He said “As the oppositions are still battling with the electoral law, that has already been signed,the APC as a party is putting everything in place so as to make sure that victory is theirs not just Lagos alone but the entire nation”
Earlier,the Chairman of the 2026 APC State Congress Technical Committee, Chief Oyinlomo Danmole, commended the party leaders and members for their support towards the success of the state congress.
Danmole,who was represented by Dr Adekunle Olayinka, Secretary of the technical committee and the Special Adviser to State Governor on Works, said that the party was ready for victory in 2027.
“Today is very important in our party in Lagos State because we are swearing in the newly constituted executive members of our party.”
“They have been saddled with the responsibility of running our party at the state level for another four years. The party leaders strongly believe in your capacity and capabilities,” Danmole said.
He called for unity of purpose among the exco in order to deliver massive victory for the party in all elections, thereafter the officers took their oath of office and were inaugurated.
It will be recalled that the event earlier scheduled for Thursday was postponed, following the demise of the Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mr Karamo Yesiro, who died on Wednesday 4, March 2026.
He died barely 24 hours after his re-election at the party congress, held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (formerly Onikan Stadium) on Tuesday.
