The Ogun State Police Command is searching for a four-man armed robbery group that stole $11 million from Abeokuta, the state capital.
The armed robbers robbed a Hausa merchant in a Toyota Venza automobile in Oke Sokori, Abeokuta North Local Government Area, wearing black T-shirts and trousers and masks.
The rifle-wielding bandits stole $11 million from two “Ghana-Must-Go” bags in three minutes. The thieves escaped unchallenged by security.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the heist and expressed dismay that the criminals left before police arrived.
He assured the police will discover and arrest the culprits.
After learning about the event, the command dispatched a signal throughout the state to find the culprits. Our technical units are alerted and we will obtain them.”
“I, however, want to use this medium to assure the good people of Ogun State not to panic as there is no course for alarm; they should remain calm, and go about their normal and routine businesses because our men will surely track down the suspects,” he added.
