NLC skips President Tinubu’s negotiation assembly
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) declined to attend the negotiation session that President Bola Tinubu summoned in an effort to prevent the union from going on its planned two-day warning strike.
The conference was called, according to Daily Trust, by President Tinubu’s minister of labor and employment, Simon Lalong, to prevent the strike that the organized labor had called. According to reports, the Trade Union Congress (TUC), led by its president, Festus Osifo, convened the meeting at 5:32 p.m. rather than its scheduled 3 p.m. start time because the NLC leadership was noticeably absent.
