Nollywood veteran actor, Chinwetalu Agu, has expressed his concerns about the Federal Government’s decision to change the national anthem, stating that it reflects a misplaced sense of priorities. In a video shared by Voice of the East, Agu questioned how altering the national anthem would address the pressing issue of high food prices in the market.
During the video, Agu sang both the old and new national anthems before criticizing the government’s focus on this change rather than tackling the economic challenges faced by the citizens. He emphasized that the national anthem should not serve as a distraction from the real issues affecting the country, such as the rising costs of essential commodities like rice, fuel, garri, and yam.
Agu sarcastically remarked that the national anthem now seems to be considered a form of relief or comfort, highlighting the absurdity of prioritizing such a change over more critical matters. He questioned the necessity of altering the anthem when people are struggling to afford basic necessities and suggested that the government’s efforts would be better directed towards addressing these urgent needs.
