Mr. Sam Ekwueme, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has won the primary election to represent the Igboetiti/Uzo-uwani federal constituency.
Aku, Ekwueme defeated his opponent, Mrs Eunice Atuejide, with 92 votes to 39 votes in an election held at the Community primary school.
The election was going well until Eunice, sensing that she was losing, attempted to hijack the ballot papers that had already been cast.
The rumpled ballot papers from the woman and the touts she allegedly brought to disrupt the election had to be retrieved quickly by electoral officers and some party supporters.
Sam Ekwueme received 92 votes to Atuejide’s 39 votes after the votes were counted.

In the upcoming 2023 general elections, Ekwueme was re-elected as the APC candidate for the Igboetiti/Uzo-uwani candidate for the House of Representatives.
