On Saturday, Ayeni Oluyemi, an educational consultant who accused a Lagos State Customary Court judge of snatching his wife in a viral video, said the matter had been resolved.
Oluyemi described in the video how he attempted to resolve his marital dispute through the customary court.
He claimed that the presiding judge later impregnated his wife and restricted his access to his children.
Ayeni, who was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, appealed to Nigerians to help him.
In response to the video, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency stated that the matter was investigated by the Lagos State Judicial Service Commission.
Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the agency’s Executive Secretary, revealed in a statement that the panel’s findings led to the termination of the judge’s appointment.
Ayeni, who spoke on Saturday, said he recorded the video in 2015 and that he no longer had issues with his ex-wife or the former judge.
“I went to the judge to resolve an issue thinking it could be resolved through alternative dispute resolution,” he explained, “but the man dissolved my marriage and wanted to send me to jail on a false charge of assault.”
“I took the matter up with the help of the media, which published my case in March 2016.” I wrote a letter to the Lagos State Judiciary Committee, a panel was formed, and the man was dismissed. The issue was resolved, and I thank the Lagos State Government for their prompt action. The video in circulation is old, and I recorded it when I needed assistance.”
Ayeni stated that he obtained custody of his three children after another court ruled that his former wife could not care for the children.
“The court ruled that because the judge who married my former wife was a polygamist with five wives and 22 children, it was not advisable for the children to remain with him.” So the judge asked my new wife to swear to an affidavit that she would take custody of and care for the children. My children have been living with me for the past seven years. Last year, another former judge passed away. As a result, people should allow the dead to rest. “The video in circulation is old,” he added.
