Lagos Government,NYCN Partner To Spread Awareness On Human Organ Harvesting Law.

The Lagos State Government and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) have partnered to sensitize residents on the new Human Organ Harvesting and Tissue Transplant Law.
The law aims to regulate organ transplantation, prohibit illegal harvesting, and protect donors and recipients.
The partnership was announced at a public event in Isolo, Lagos, where government officials and NYCN representatives explained the law’s provisions.
Investigator news reports that the law is one of three enacted by the Lagos State Government in December 2025 to protect citizens’ rights and welfare
The event held at the Isolo council secretariat was centered around eliminating ignorance and deepening awareness about Human Organ Harvesting and Tissue Transplant Law, Victims’ Assistance and Witness Protection Law and the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency Law.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore explained that the Human Organ Harvesting and Tissue Transplant law is meant to regulate organ and tissue transplantation in Lagos State, prohibit illegal harvesting and trafficking of human organs/tissues, put in place guidelines for organ/tissue donation and transplantation as well as protect donors and recipients among other worthy reasons.
Shasore noted that the Victims’ Assistance and Witness Protection Law was put in place to provide assistance to victims of crime by offering counseling, medical aid among others and also protect witnesses from intimidation or harm.
According to him,the law also allows for witness anonymity and security measures, facilitates witness testimony in a safe environment and Supports victims through the justice process.
The third law which is the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency Law aims to protect consumers’ interests and settle disputes.
The law establishes the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency to protect consumers and promote their welfare as the agency handles consumer complaints, investigates defective products, and enforces compliance with consumer protection regulations among others.
In his remarks,NYCN Isolo coordinator, Comrade Damilola Kushimo commended the initiative and the state government for the partnership in eliminating residents’ ignorance about the new law while assuring the message will be further disseminate the message to the entire youths in the council area through their various Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Voluntary Youths Organization (VYOs)
Kushimo used the medium to humbly urged the state government to, as a matter of urgency, look into the upgrade of Isolo Youth Centre to complement the local government’s efforts on youth development and ensure that Isolo youths are given more consideration for beneficial projects from the state.
Investigator news gathered that notable dignitaries attended the event including the council chairman, Hon Olasoju Adebayo who was represented by one of his aides, Mr. Abiola Ayinde-Marshal. Members of Community Development Council (CDC) Market men and women, political leaders among others formed part of the audience.
