The Lokoja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has commended Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering commitment to the rule of law and promotion of good governance in the state.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the association to the Governor at the Government House in Lokoja on Wednesday, where the delegation acknowledged the administration’s efforts in strengthening democratic institutions and improving governance.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Chairman of the Lokoja Branch, Barrister Sumaila Abbas, praised Governor Ododo for what he described as measurable achievements across key sectors of the state.
He noted that the governor’s respect for the rule of law has helped boost public confidence in governance and reinforced democratic values.
Barrister Abbas also assured the governor of the association’s continued cooperation in promoting justice, equity, and sustainable development.
He emphasized that while the NBA remains committed to supporting government initiatives, it will continue to provide constructive criticism when necessary, in line with its responsibility as a watchdog in society.
In his response, Governor Ododo expressed gratitude to the association for recognizing the efforts of his administration.
He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law and implementing policies that promote transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
The governor further urged the NBA to deepen collaboration with the State Ministry of Justice, particularly the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, to enhance justice delivery and strengthen legal institutions in the state.
Governor Ododo reiterated his dedication to serving the people of Kogi State, stressing that his administration remains focused on building a just, secure, and prosperous state.
The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration between government and professional bodies in strengthening democratic governance and institutional development in Kogi State.
