The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande,has taken a tough stance against environmental offenders,by taking a blitz on indiscriminate waste dumping, deploying a joint task force to Adekunle Odunlami Street.
The area was plagued by heaps of refuse, mainly from vegetable and fruit sellers as the crackdown targets traders contributing to the menace.
Determined to tackle the problem at its root, Jakande deployed a joint task force comprising the Òdì‑Olowo Transport and Environmental Corps (O‑TEC) led by Hon. Akinsemoyin Lateef, and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps (LSNC) under Mr Rasak Adebisi.
The team went stall‑to‑stall, sensitizing traders on the dangers of indiscriminate dumping and the health risks it poses to residents.
They urged the sellers to embrace proper waste management practices by patronizing LAWMA/PSP operators instead of relying on local cart pushers, whose activities often fuel illegal dumping.
Speaking through his team, Jakande made it clear that his administration would not tolerate further violations. Traders were sternly warned that repeat offenders would face prosecution.
“We are leaving no stone unturned in our mission to build a cleaner, healthier Òdì‑Olowo/Ojuwoye.”
“Environmental sustainability is not negotiable, and every resident must play their part,” Jakande emphasized.
