The Executive Chairman of lsolo local government council area,Hon Adebayo Olasoju has rewarded three outstanding teachers with the sum of One Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty thousand naira(N1,750,000.00)at the Mega Back-To-School Programme held at the council secretariat, Isolo.on Wednesday 18, September 2024.

The winners of the cash award are Mrs Abimbola Oluwabunmi Falua (Estate Primary School) the best non-teaching staff, Comrade Raufu Adebare Salami (Akinbaiye Primary School); best headteacher and Mrs Oluyemisi Eunice Akinrinlo (St Paul’s Anglican Primary School) best teacher who all smiled home with N250,000, N500,000 and 1 Million Naira, respectively.

Delivery his welcome address,Hon Olasoju stated that the cash prize was to inspire and motivate the teaching staff and non teaching staff for their excellent service delivery to the pupils, stating that next year’s edition would be bigger and better as his administration would give next year’s winner a car gift.

He went further to state that the initiative was conceived to encourage and develop education in the council area.

“This undertaking of our administration is to primarily complement our ever-dependable Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in his mission to make life more abundant for the good people of Lagos state.

“Honouring the teachers is also a way of giving our “future leaders’ solid educational foundation.”he stated.

Speaking on the Mega Back To School Programme Project,the Council boss stated that the programme is a way of surmounting the challenges faced by parents in meeting their obligations to their wards as a result of the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu.

He said,”The conviction that our version of the concept is setting a standard for educational support efforts in Lagos state and beyond made us to term it MEGA. Today, each pupil in all the fourteen (14) primary schools subsisting in Isolo Local Council Development Area shall go home with School Bag, Uniform, 3 Pairs of socks and writing materials that could last them the whole of this new academic session and even the coming one.”

“Although this concept of Educational Support project might not be unheard of, we went out of our way to package this programme in a degree that is unprecedented.”he stated.

Investigator news reports that over 7,000 children from 14 primary school namely;Ajao Estate Nur/Pry Sch,Akinbaye Pry Sch,Ansar-ud-deen Pry Sch,Dele Ajomale Nur/Pry Sch, Estate Pry School,Faronbi Pry Sch, Gbeleyi Pry Sch,Ilasamaja Pry Sch,lre Akari Model Sch,Kusaro Pry Sch,Local government Pry Sch,Olokun Pry Sch and St Paul Ang.Pry Sch benefited from this project.

The Council Boss highlighted some of his achievements, stating that his administration has distributed free GCE and JAMB forms to admission seekers in the council area, awarded bursary award to residents and indigenes of lsolo that are schooling in public tertiary institution across the country.

“We are not sitting on our oars neither are we unmindful of the fact that our policy must be all encompassing. In addition to the over 34 roads that this administration has either completely constructed or rehabilitated,others that are on going across the various wards include Alagbeji Primary Health care center, the network of roads in Ajao Estate,Baale street,llasamaja,the rebranding of the Council premises and construction of Administrative block . All these are due for completion soonest as contractors are put on their toes every day that passes”he submitted.

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-olu who was ably represented by the wife of the Hon Commissioner for lnformation in the State,Mrs Funmi Omotosho praised Hon Olasoju for the programme which she described as a reflection of his commitment to securing a brighter future for the pupils.

“This initiative of the Chairman of Isolo LCDA shows the readiness to resolve and addresses these challenges heads on. To me, this mega back-to-school project is not just an ordinary programme but a statement that will resonates throughout this council and beyond in Lagos State. ”

As you receive this educational materials and return back to school, this gesture is a form of empowerment, encouragement from the government, and know that we are all standing with you as you embark on this educational journey,” she said

In their goodwill message,the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State Chapter, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, said the programme showed that the local governments in the State are working tirelessly, adding that the Party has presented capable hands to steer the ship of the various local governments.

Hon Ojelabi commended the feats achieved by the Council, especially in.road network and infrastructures,urge him not to relent in giving back to the people who voted him in as elected chairman.

He advised the children to see the initiative as a way to motivate them to continue to put in their best, believing that such commitment will one day be rewarded..

Speaking to lnvestigator news,the Member representing Oshodi Isolo State Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,Hon Bar Ladi Oladipo Ajomale applauded the Chairman for achieving this great feat and for taking the bold step in supporting the children and parents this period.

“First of all,l want to commend the chairman who is my brother and friend for the good work he has been doing since inception in office and for him to take this initiative,it shows that he has the people at heart. He is one man that loves education and always support the less privileged especially in the society,so going back to school project that he has embark on is a welcome development by giving the children school bags, writing materials, school uniforms,socks and shoes is highly commendable.

The lawmaker cum legal practitioner advise the children to make good use of the opportunity and privileged given to them “The children should make their parents and the local government proud by coming out top in their academic pursuit, they should remain focus study hard in school and stay out of drugs”he stated
Hon Ajomale opined that the administration of Hon Olasoju is cognizant of the essential role that teachers play in building a formidable society, which is why his government is committed to rewarding exceptional teachers on a regular basis.

Lending his voice,the regent of Isolo, High Chief Saliu Wasiu Arowo-oye advice the children to take their academics seriously as they have been given the platform to excel without any excuse, urging them to always make good use of the three acronyms of 3Ds; Decision, Determination and Diligence.

On their part, Olasoju’s Counterpart from Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello, Mrs Adetoun Ajomale, the Chairman Lagos State Local Government Commission, Hon. Kamal Ayinde Bayewu, the Senior Soecial Assistant to Lagos State Governor on Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Babatunde Durojaiye, the Education Secretary of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Education Authority, Hon. Mayowa Alakija among others took turns to shower encomium on the council boss for the unprecedented educational support programme.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of school bag packs to 7,000 children from 14 schools in lsolo local government and the cash award to the best non teaching staff,best head teacher and best teacher in the local government.

The surprised and elated Mrs Oluwayemisi Eunice Akinrinola of St Paul Anglican Primary School who could not contain her emotion as she burst into tears thanked the council boss for the gesture, stating that the award was unexpected

“This award was unexpected, but I give glory to Almighty God. I thank the council chairman and management of Isolo LCDA for its commitment toward supporting teachers and ensuring their welfare was given utmost priority. I appreciate what they have done; I am grateful to them and everyone around me, including my Head Teacher, Mrs. Amosun. I want to assure the chairman that l won’t relent in ensuring that qualitative teaching remains my watchword ” she said

Dignitaries at the occasion include the Chairperson Mrs Olajumoke Olasoju, chairman of kosofe LGA Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe,Hon Monsurudeen Bello, Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, the regent of Isolo, High Chief Saliu Wasiu Arowo-oye, SSA to Lagos State Governor on Civic Engagement, Ruth Lijirin, her counterparts on Basic and Secondary Education as well as on Social Development, Opeyemi Eniola and Lekan Biliiamin Oba, the council’s legislative arm led by Hon. Akeem Adeyemi Alarape, the management and executive team led by the Council Manager and Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs Mojisola Ogabi and Hon. Sikiru Adeshina Salisu, the first Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Hon. Martins Ayoade Adegboyega, Alhaji Jide Oni, Alhaji Musbau Alebiosu, Iyaloja General of Isolo LCDA, Chief Mrs Eunice Dosunmu, Comrade Monsuru Agbabiaka, Hon. Gbolahan Okuneye, Alhaji Fatai Abisiga among others as a minute silence was observed in honour of late Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka and Aduke Gold.
