The International Skate-A-Thon Calabar 2025 has witnessed thrilling performances from participating teams, with Lagos making a strong impression in various events.
Investigator news reports that Lagos State has continued its dominant performance at the ongoing international skate -a-thorn in Calabar,securing three more medals in the marathon race(45km)event.
The 45km marathon race saw Port Harcourt (PH) emerge victorious, followed closely by Lagos teams in 2nd, 4th, and 5th positions, while Oyo secured 3rd place.
In a stunning display of dexterity, perseverance, and grit, Team Lagos has also made it to the finals of the Skate Hockey Soccer tournament and will face off against Oyo in the championship match.
Lagos’ success extended beyond the marathon race as the team stole the show in the Inline Fashion Display event, winning the coveted gold medal as their stunning display of ego fashion style impressed judges and spectators alike.
Speaking with newsmen,the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroot Sports Development to the Governor,Mr Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye, Skibanj stated that these outstanding performances reflect the state’s commitment to identifying and nurturing young talent, with the potential for these athletes to thrive more on both national and international stages.
Hon Skibanj noted that the success underscores the continued efforts of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whose administration has prioritised sports development, noting that significant investments in sporting infrastructure and grassroots initiatives under his leadership have resulted in not only talent identification and development but also inspired an era of sports excellence.
He went further to commend the athletes for their dedication and discipline and putting the state in the global map as far as skating is concerned
