In Bauchi, boy lures 16-year-old friend to a bushy area, pulls out his eyes

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that Uzairu Salisu, who is 16 years old and lives in Kwanan Gulmanmu, Jahun quarters in Bauchi metropolis, was attacked by a friend who took out both of his eyes.

Ahmed Wakili, the spokesman for the state police command, told the Tribune that on Thursday around 6 p.m., a distress call came in from Mohammed Lawal, the Ward Head of Birshi, which is a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

Lawal said in the statement that a 16-year-old boy was found in a pool of blood at Dutsen Jira in the Yelwa area of Bauchi with his eyes pulled out.

Ahmed also said that a group of police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Yelwa went to the scene of the crime and took the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi (ATBUTH) for treatment.

The victim told investigators that Ibrahim of Rafin Zurfi, whom he had known for a while, lured him to the bush with a promise of a simple job and then cut out his eyes.

The police spokeswoman said that the victim was getting care at the hospital and that the public would be kept up to date as the investigation went on.

Umar Mamman Sanda, who is in charge of the police, promised to find out what was going on and make sure that anyone who was found to be responsible would be brought to justice.

Sanda says, “It is more important than ever that the whereabouts of wards and the people they hang out with are always checked by all those in charge.”
