In Abuja, Mob set fire to a vigilante over alleged blasphemy

Over suspected blasphemy, a mob in Abuja stoned and then set fire to a member of a vigilante organisation on Saturday.

The tragedy occurred at the Federal Housing Estate in Lugbe, Abuja, at the Timber Market.

Some members of the vigilance group stationed in the vicinity were said to have intended to apprehend some locals who were strolling around the market in the early hours of Saturday morning.

They were believed to have pleaded with the security guards to let them go, but one of the vigilantes was accused of making blasphemous remarks, sparking the mob action.

The unidentified person was pummelling and stoned before being set on fire, according to witnesses.
