The Interim Secretary of the Imo State Leadership Coordinating Committee of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Hon. Ejike Azubuike, has called on Imo residents and party supporters to participate actively in the party’s ongoing nationwide membership e-registration exercise.
Azubuike made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting held recently in Owerri, where he disclosed that the party has finalized arrangements to conduct its congresses in accordance with its constitution and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to him, the series of congresses will commence from April 6 to April 17, 2026. He explained that the ward congress will take place on April 6, followed by the local government congress on April 8.
The state congress is scheduled for April 10, the zonal congress for April 13, while the national congress will hold on April 17.
In his address, Azubuike stated that the Democratic Leadership Alliance is determined to provide courageous leadership and serve the people with integrity.
He noted that the party possesses the capacity not only to win elections in 2027 but also to deliver the dividends of democracy, address insecurity and stabilize the nation’s economy.
He added that the party is founded on the principles of integrity, transparency and accountability, stressing that it strongly believes in true democracy and inclusive governance where no region will be neglected.
Azubuike therefore urged party members and supporters to work collectively to strengthen the party’s structures across wards and local government areas.
The interim secretary also assured both new and existing members of fairness and equal opportunities within the party, stressing that due process will be strictly upheld.
He emphasized that those who emerge as leaders during the upcoming congresses will receive the necessary support to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
He commended stakeholders who attended the meeting despite the short notice, describing their presence as a demonstration of commitment and dedication to the growth of the party.
He also encouraged them to mobilize support in their various wards ahead of the scheduled congress activities.
Azubuike further expressed gratitude to the National Working Committee, particularly the National Chairman, Samuel M. Meme, Esq., for the confidence reposed in him to coordinate the party’s leadership in Imo State, pledging his continued dedication and loyalty to the party.
