Imo First Lady flags off Maternal, New Born Child Health Week.

To deliver a high-impact health services to mothers and children, Imo First Lady and wife of the Governor, Her Excellency, Chief Barr. Chioma Uzodimma on Friday flagged off the 2024 Maternal, New Born Child Health Week (MNCHW).

Speaking during the flag off that held at Imo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the Wife of the Governor, said the Maternal, New Born Child Health Week is a one-week intensive program set aside by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency to deliver a basket of high impact health services to mothers and children across the country.

Her Excellency, represented by the Commissioner, ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu UNJP noted “This noble initiative which is done twice a year aims at the reduction of high rate of mother and child mortality in the country in general and Imo State in particular which is presently embarrassingly high”.

“This flag off provides a window of opportunity for all pregnant women, reproductive age women and children to visit Health Centers to access the services and for all the health workers to ensure that every mother and child in Imo State is reached with the available robust high impact intervention especially in the rural communities”. Her Excellency submitted.

Mrs Uzodimma lauded the Governor His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Executive Secretary, ISPHCDA, Imo State ministry of Health, WHO, UNICEF, Vitamin Angels, MRITE, CARITAS Nigeria, Corona Management System for working tirelessly in Imo State to amplify the impact of health programs implemented by ministry of health
