The Ikeja Local Government’s Education Department recently hosted the 2025 Spelling Bee Competition, a vibrant event that brought together students from various public schools across Ikeja.

This intellectually engaging competition was held at the Ikeja Local Government Marriage Registry Hall, providing a platform for young learners to showcase their linguistic skills, confidence, and knowledge.

Mrs. Fausat Temitope Dauda, wife of the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), was the host of the event, which aligns with the I.K.E.J.A Agenda’s focus on Inspiring Knowledge, Empowering Juveniles, and Advancing Academics.

The competition’s objective is to promote literacy, confidence, and public speaking among Nigerian children, and it has become a significant event in the academic calendar of Ikeja Local Government.

In her remarks, Mrs. Dauda praised the initiative of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for pioneering the Spelling Bee Competition, which continues to nurture young leaders and promote literacy and public speaking skills among Nigerian children.

She encouraged the participants to stay focused on their academic dreams and assured them of the administration’s continuous investment in education.

 

Mrs. Dauda also congratulated all participants and winners, noting that the future of Ikeja is bright with the abundance of young talents being nurtured through educational initiatives.

Investigator news reports that the event featured students from both primary and secondary schools, all vying for the top spots in their respective categories.

After a series of challenging rounds, the winners were announced. In the Primary School Category, the top three positions were secured by Ismail Zainab from St. Peter’s Primary School, who took the 1st position and will serve as the “A Day Chairman” of Ikeja Local Government.

Sanni Abiodun from State Primary School,secured the 2nd position and will serve as the “Vice Chairman.”

Keturah Erebor from St. Peter’s Primary School, who claimed the 3rd position and will serve as the “Leader of the Legislative House.”

In the Secondary School Category, the winners are Amukwu Favour, who took the 1st position,Napoleon Anointing,(2nd position) and Adesanya John,claimed the 3rd position.

The competition was closely monitored by officials from the Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, including Mrs. Oluwakemi Olalekan and Mrs. Abass Tiwalade, alongside Mrs. Adeniji from the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA).

Their presence underscored the importance of the event in promoting educational excellence within the local government area.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners, who were celebrated for their exceptional performance.

Investigator news gathered that the competition not only highlighted the academic prowess of the students but also fostered a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie among the participants.

The event had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD); the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore; Councilors led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Rasheed Adisa Ogunseye; and the Council Manager, who was ably represented by the Head of Procurement.
