The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area,Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, has assured the people of Somolu Local Government of his administration commitment in uplifting and supporting those in need.
Hon Dullar stated this during the fifth phase of the cash palliatives program where he distributed N50 million to 1,000 petty traders in Somolu LGA on Thursday 23, October 2024, so as to assist them in growing their businesses and contributing to the national economy.
The Council boss went further to state that the essence of the financial aid was its commitment made to the people, to drive economic growth towards a better life for Somolu families, stating that it is not just about money, but about giving the people chance to continue building their businesses, supporting their families, and pursuing their dreams.
“It fills my heart with joy to stand before you today. We are here for something very special—an opportunity to further uplift our community and support those who work tirelessly every day. In this fifth phase of our cash palliatives program, we are distributing N50 million to 1,000 of our hardworking petty traders. This is not just about money, but about giving you the chance to continue building your businesses, supporting your families, and pursuing your dreams.
“This program has already made a significant difference. In the previous four editions, we shared N110 million with 4,000 residents. We’ve seen the impact of these funds in the smiles of our people, the businesses that have grown stronger, and the new hope it has brought to families. We are determined to keep this progress going, because Somolu is a community that deserves every opportunity to thrive.”he stated
He highlighted some of the ongoing projects carried out by his administration such as lnterlocking roads, Solar powered streetlights,Somolu legislative complex,the Somolu fire service station,the Wright primary healthcare center, Wesley primary school,Bashua police station and the new Somolu local government administrative complex.
“Our recent achievements in infrastructure speak to our commitment to growth. Soon, we will be commissioning several key projects that will serve this community for many years to come. The Somolu Legislative Complex will provide a modern space for governance. The Somolu Fire Service Station will ensure that we can respond quickly to emergencies, keeping our people safe. We are also near completion of the Wright Primary Healthcare Center and Wesley Primary School—two facilities that will guarantee better health and education for our children and families.”
“Additionally, we will soon open the Bashua Police Station to further secure our community. But perhaps one of the most exciting developments is the New Somolu Local Government Administrative Complex. This complex will house not just our Customary Court and Marriage Registry, but also a state-of-the-art ICT Innovation Lab, giving our young people the tools they need to embrace technology and new opportunities. The complex will also feature an Ultramodern Multipurpose Hall with soundproof technology, perfect for both official and community events.”he submitted.
Hon Salawu applauded the economy reforms of President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu noting that his efforts are not just for the present but for the long-term benefit of every Nigerian.
He opined that these reforms are essential to building a stronger and more resilient economy, while urging everyone to remain patient and cooperative as we work together to achieve these lasting benefits.

Speaking to newsmen,the Special Adviser to the Chairman on market matters,Hon Rasak Tajudeen commended the chairman for his dedication, love and commitment to the people of Somolu, stating that he has continually put smiles on the faces of different families in Somolu local government since he assumption in office 7years ago.
” The people of Somolu are smiling today because of Hon Dullar’who has taken it upon himself to show love to the people Somolu, since his inception of his administration,the chairman has been assisting the less privileged and now he has demonstrated it to the market traders,this is fifth phase. He is putting smile on the people and a blessing to our people and the people will never forget him in a hurry,even he is coming out for a higher position,he will certainly get it on a platter of gold”.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Investigator news showers prayers for the Executive Chairman,Hon Dullar and assured him of their support if he decides to higher after his tenure.
Those in attendance at event include Hon Olorogun Gbolahan Bagostowe (Former Council Chairman), Hon. Williams Lawanson (Former Sole Administrator),Hon. Adekunle Ekiyemi-Odujobi (Vice Chairman) led Executive Council members as well as Hon. Yomi Osunkoya led Somolu Legislative Council members.
The event also saw the presence of the Grand Chief Imam of Somolu-Bariga, Sheikh Boonyamin Dabiri, along with CAN representative, while Apostle Peter Oyewusi led the APC Apex leaders and Hon. Abosede Ogunlaja led the APC Apex women.
Investigator news reports that the highlight of the event was presentation of N50,000 to 1,000 beneficiaries which was monitored by Comrade lshaq Buna led Human Right Monitoring Agenda (Hurma).
