As part of its efforts to cushion hunger for vulnerable in the society,Hon Okey Joe Foundation on Wednesday,January 1,2025,embarked on distribution of food and water as a measure to ease the effect of the economic hardship on the beneficiaries.
The foundation visited areas like Ejigbo,Isolo and llasamaja to fete over 500 indigents, beggars and okada riders to celebrate the new year festival.
Program Director Women for Honourable Okey Joe Foundation,Mrs Uchenna Oformata revealed that the reason this gesture came at this particular time is due to hardship being faced by many indigent Nigerians who might not even have what to eat during this festive period.
While distributing the food to the indigent,beggars and okada riders in the community,Mrs Uchenna stated that the foundation is committed to reaching out to the less privileged and people in the community this new year celebration.
” We are just sharing love, reaching out to the less privileged being New Year,so as a foundation we decided to extend our hands of charity to our community, share food and love this season”she said
Investigator news reports that Mrs Uchenna had on several fora advise wealthy individuals, corporate organization, philanthropist to always extend their hands of fellowship and show love and care for the less privileged, women, children, widows and vulnerable in the society.
“Looking at the economic situation of the country, people are suffering but with a little touch of love, you don’t know the person that you might be putting smiles on his or her faces. So let us extend that hands of charity and make Nigeria a better place”
” Also,l want to urge Nigerians this New Year to keep hope alive and believe in God,it is going to be a better year if we all work together,so continue in your own little way by reaching out to the less privileged in your community “she submitted.
She further added that apart from distributing food, the foundation is also known for reaching out to the less privileged and providing scholarships to indigents children from primary schools to the University level, pointing out that the core areas of the foundation is women’s empowerment and education.
Lending her voice, the Vice person Women for Hon Okey Joe Foundation,Mrs Oguntola Nike stated that the foundation decided to embark on this project just to put smiles on the faces of the indigent, beggars and okada riders just to show them that the foundation cares for them and also make them see reasons to smile in 2025.
Mrs Oguntola went further to appeal to individuals not to be discouraged irrespective of what they are going through but be encouraged that someone cares for them especially the Hon Okey Joe Foundation who is ready to put smiles on people’s face.
Women leader Voice of hope Ejigbo Chapter,Mrs Joy Onyegbula expressed gratitude to God almighty for giving Hon Okey Joe Foundation the privilege to assist those in need especially the down trodden.
” I feel so excited and grateful to God almighty, looking at the situation of the country,at least we were able to meet some people’s needs especially the beggars, Okada riders by putting smiles on their faces. I want to appeal to those who have the opportunity to assist but don’t give to always follow the instruction in the holy book “give and it shall be giving unto you”,let them always extend their hands of fellowship to the less privileged “she stated.
Highlight of the event was the distribution of food and water to the indigent, beggars and okada riders including passersby who were excited with the food items, praying to God almighty to continually bless Hon Okey Joe Onuakalusi, member representing Oshodi lsolo ll Federal Constituency at the National Assembly
