The Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Seyi Jakande, has convened a pivotal stakeholders meeting to sensitize community members on the importance of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.
The meeting, held on Thursday, August 28, aimed to outline initiatives that facilitate participation and enhance civic engagement.
Addressing the audience,Hon. Jakande emphasized the necessity of voter registration, stating that anyone who wants to enjoy the dividends of democracy must ensure they register for the ongoing CVR.
“We are committed to making this process as accessible as possible for every resident.”he said
The Council boss went further to announce a mobile registration initiative that will visit homes in the community, particularly targeting the elderly who may have difficulties accessing traditional registration venues.
“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that every voice is heard in our democracy,” Jakande added.
The Chairman also took the opportunity to discuss the ongoing “Òdì-Olowo Cares” program, which provides sustainable support to residents. He reassured those who have yet to receive their monthly payments that they can walk into the council office to lodge complaints. “We are here to serve you, and we want to ensure that our programs are effectively meeting the needs of our community,” he said. During the engagement, several stakeholders expressed their support for the initiatives presented.
Jakande reiterated the importance of collective efforts in empowering the community. “Together, we can build a stronger, more participatory democracy. I urge everyone here to take this message back to your constituencies and spread the word about the importance of voter registration.”
