The secretariat of the Idemili North Local Government in Ogidi and a magistrate’s court nearby were both set on fire by unknown assailants.
The arsonists are said to have broken into the secretariat on Sunday night and set fire to everything inside, including the building itself.
The destruction of the local government secretariat and the destruction of vehicles parked inside were both documented in videos and photos that quickly went viral on the internet.
Unidentified arsonists have been blamed for the development, according to the state’s police command.
It was confirmed, and our men were there to bring things back to normal,” DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said in a statement.
According to Ikenga, “The fire has been extinguished and calm has been restored to the area.”
