On Saturday morning, gunmen kidnapped a top official of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Kingsley Okorafor, the victim, was abducted in his hometown of Umuadara Umulogho, an autonomous community in Imo State’s Obowo Local Government Area.

According to our correspondent, the abduction has unsettled the villagers, who are now in a state of panic.

The incident was confirmed by the community’s traditional ruler, Patrick Uwalaka, who described the development as unfortunate.
According to an unnamed source, the victim attended a wake for the late traditional ruler of the Ndihu autonomous community in the Obowo LGA, Innocent Anyawu, on Friday.

“The NDDC staff member was trailed after he left the vigil to his community, where he was abducted, while his car was left behind,” the source said.

According to the source, the suspected kidnappers have made contact with the victim’s family and have demanded a N10 million ransom for his release.
Micheal Abattam, the state police spokesman, had yet to respond to an inquiry about the abduction as of the time of filing this report on Saturday.
