At a ceremony held at Government House in Jos, the state capital of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwtang administered oaths of office to the interim transition committee chairmen for each of the state’s 17 local government areas.
During the ceremony on Saturday, the governor, who was absent from the event and was instead represented by his deputy, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, stated that the exercise was necessary to ensure that there was no vacuum in his administration.
After receiving recommendations from the Plateau House of Assembly, the governor of the state of Plateau took action on June 1 and suspended all democratic structures in the country’s 17 local government areas.
Muftwang stated that the suspension was a result of their inability to produce documents related to financial transactions in the various local governments. He also stated that all efforts to force them to produce the documents were fruitless. Muftwang said that the inability to produce the documents was the reason for the suspension.
He explained that the decision to suspend the chairmen was made by the state government after careful consideration of the recommendations in order to ensure that an investigation into the event is carried out in an effective and appropriate manner.
He strongly urged the chairmen of the transition to cooperate with the PLHA and make sure that all of the documents that were necessary for the investigation were provided so that appropriate action could be taken.

Also keep in mind that this is a transitional administration, which means that it could be replaced at any time the government so desires, he said.
In his response, the Chairman of the Wase Local Government, Hamisu Anani, gave the governor his word that they would operate in accordance with the laws and statutes that govern the local government and do their best to further the development of the state.
According to NAN, the interim chairmen are as follows: Mr. Markus Hussaini from Jos East; Mr. Sati Shuwa from Riyom; Mr. Peter VwangDung from Jos South; Mr. Fidelis Adara from Bassa; Mr. Danjuma Guda from Barkin Ladi; Mr. Istifanus John from Jos North; Mr. Markus Artu from Mangu; and Mr. Monday Kassa from Bokkos.
Others are Mr Samuel Go’ar Pankshin; Mr Caleb Shikir, Kanke; Mr Ado Yusuf, Kanam; Mr Nicholas Nshe, Shendam; Mr Christopher Manship, Quanpan; Mr Daniel Kungmi, Mikang; Mr Nanmwa Kumzhi, Langtang North; Mrs Manji Dangfa, Langtang South; and Mr Hamisu Anani, Wase.
