A former Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and a retired army officer, Chris Eze, has been elected Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State.
Eze, who also served as Nigeria’s former Ambassador to India, emerged during the party’s state congress held on Saturday, where members of the State Working Committee were also elected.
Investigator news reports that the emergence of the new leadership is expected to reposition the party and strengthen its structure ahead of future electoral contests in the state, particularly the 2027 general elections.
In his acceptance speech, Eze pledged to run an inclusive administration that would accommodate all members of the party. He also assured party aspirants of fairness and transparency in the forthcoming primaries.
“We will run an inclusive administration that will carry all members along in the affairs of the party,” he said.
In a statement issued by Adolphus Udeh, the new chairman disclosed that the party had already begun strategic planning aimed at strengthening its grassroots presence across the state.
According to the statement, the ADC is positioning itself to take over power in Enugu State in the 2027 general elections, with a vision of establishing a people-oriented and grassroots-driven government capable of delivering democratic dividends to the people.
Among other officials elected were Prince Acharabuagu Kingsley, who emerged as Vice Chairman for Enugu North Zone, and Lolo Queen N. Nwankwo, elected as State Organising Secretary, alongside other party executives.
