The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, attributes its failure to prosecute corruption cases to frivolous court rulings.
The anti-corruption organisation also bemoaned its inability to obtain convictions in high-profile corruption cases.
Wilson Uwajaren, the EFCC’s spokesperson, said this in a conversation with journalists in Kaduna State.
Uwajaren outlined some of the difficulties that slow down the prosecution of corruption cases and the achievement of convictions.
He claimed that among other things, the losses were brought on by arbitrary adjournments of corruption cases and frivolous court rulings based on technicalities rather than the truth and the interests of the country.
He continued by saying that in 2022, the commission obtained around 7,700 convictions nationwide. – #News #Politics
