Chief Victor Umeh dismissed young people as a lost generation in a personal mail sent to me in reaction to my refutation of his (Chief Victor Umeh’s) demand for younger aspirants running Anambra Central Senatorial Seat with him in APGA to go and acquire a job since they are children. “Your generation, among other things, is a reckless generation without any moral upbringing,” he says.
However, he never addressed any of the issues highlighted in the original article. Instead, he claims that “young people are immature to seek responsible public office,” and that “the general public is aware.”
I’ve never read anything so horrible and demeaning to an entire generation of people.
Chief Victor Umeh appears to be furious that Uzuegbuna Okagbue is not one of the’responsible youths’ who, according to his amusing estimate, he buys their consciences with peanuts.
Why should Chief Umeh say that our generation is irresponsible if that is not the case? Unless recklessness has taken on a new connotation, Chief Victor Umeh interprets the courage of young people to improve their country as irresponsibility.
He undoubtedly interprets Uzuegbuna Okagbue’s skill and forthrightness as recklessness.
I had expected Chief Victor Umeh to address any of the problems aired in public and point out where I had lied against him.
Chief Umeh, in my opinion, should have gone public to answer the problems that I raised that are not factual, as they should have been handled. Instead, he sent me a private message in which he insulted my generation and boasted that we would fail on Saturday.
Chief Umeh’s response, in any event, must be instructional to his youthful followers.
He considers them all to be “irresponsible” and so useless.
It is surprising that a man of Chief Umeh’s stature can label a whole generation “irresponsible” simply because he believes he is entitled to the APGA ticket and the Senate.
Chief Sir Victor Umeh has once again demonstrated that he is unqualified for the post to which he aspires.
Delegates from the APGA must make a bold declaration to demonstrate that we are serious about reclaiming our district.
