Cervical Cancer Awareness:Hon Okey Joe Foundation Partners My Body My Asset Foundation,Offers Free Cervical Cancer Screening

Over 50 women benefited from a free cervical cancer screening exercise organized by Hon Okey Joe Onuakulusi Foundation in partnership with My Body My Asset Foundation in Ejigbo, Lagos.
The free screening which held at Ejigbo Lagos was to mark October’s Cancer Awareness Month activities,2025,aimed to promote awareness and early detection of cervical cancer.

The Founder/President My Body My Asset Foundation Ambassador Mrs. Franca Eze, said the partnership was to mark 5th anniversary of her non-governmental organisations (NGO) as it is committed in raising awareness about cervical cancer in the past five years.
She said the major cause of cervical cancer in women is a persistent infection with high-risk types of the human papillomavirus (HPV).
As HPV is common and often clears on its own, a long-lasting infection with certain high-risk strains can cause abnormal cell changes on the cervix, which can eventually develop into cancer if not treated.
She said this is the reason why the foundation decided to carry out the cervical cancer screening in order to educate women about the causes cervical cancer.
She applauded the lawmaker for partnering with her organization in ensuring that women in his constituency gets free screening on cervical cancer.
” Let me use this occasion to appreciate Hon Okey Joe Onuakulusi, member representing Oshodi-Isolo 2 at the federal house of representatives for taking this bold step as this is the first time a man would partner with us to organize a free cervical cancer screening for women,it is laudable and he must be commended.”she said
The Programme Director HOJ Foundation Mrs. Uchenna Offormata, said her organisation went into the partnership because many women do not know their status when it comes to cervical cancer.
She explained the free cervical cancer screening aimed at reducing number of women who come down with cervical cancer in the society through awareness creation.
“Today’s event is to create an awareness and generally this month of October is “Cancer awareness ” and we all know the rate at which people die of cancer,so the Hon Okey Joe foundation thought it wise to partner with the NGO to bring to the people of Oshodi-Isolo 2 federal constituency so that a lot of women who don’t know their status can benefit from this initiative”
Mrs Offormata went further to emphasize the importance of women checking their health status,as early detection of cervical cancer saves lives.
She highlighted some of the achievements already recorded by the Hon Okey Joe Onuakulusi Foundation,who she said has empowered so many youths,men and women especially the women through various empowerment program.
Speaking with newsmen,Hon Okey Joe Onuakulusi, member representing Oshodi-Isolo 2 who was ably represented by the Labour party local government chairman for Oshodi-Isolo 2 federal constituency,Hon Bishop Remigius Agu urge the women to always take care of their health as Cancer is a deadly and dangerous disease that need urgent.
Hon Onuakulusi opined that checking of their health status regularly would detect cervical cancer early, therefore he appealed to the women to always care for their body so as to have healthy living.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with newsmen thanked Hon Okey Joe for bringing the initiative to the constituency as it will give the women ample opportunity of checking their health status.
Mrs Gbaka Juliet urge the women to always visit the hospital whenever they have unusual pain in any part of their body especially their cervical part.
Lending her voice,Mrs Ifeyinwa Nwoha appeal to women not to allow some issues relating to health affect them before consulting a doctor,she acknowledge Hon Okey Joe for affecting the lives of the women positively
